Booking terms
Jeremy Hodson Marriage Celebrant & Emcee
About these terms
These are the terms on which Jeremy Hodson Marriage Celebrant & Emcee provides ceremony services. They apply from the moment you request a booking. Please read them before you book, and ask about anything you are unsure of.
Jeremy Hodson is a registered marriage celebrant. Ceremonies are held in Sydney and greater NSW unless we agree otherwise.
Booking and holding your date
A booking request is not a confirmed booking. Your date is held once Jeremy Hodson has confirmed availability in writing and your deposit has been paid. Until then the date may be offered to someone else.
The deposit is 25% of the agreed fee and comes off the total. The balance is due no later than 14 days before the ceremony unless we agree something different in writing.
Legal paperwork
For a legal marriage, the Notice of Intended Marriage must be completed and received at least one calendar month and one day before the ceremony date. You will need to show original identity documents, and evidence of the end of any previous marriage. You are responsible for giving accurate information and for getting these documents to Jeremy Hodson in time. A ceremony cannot legally proceed without them.
Signing documents
Documents shared through this website may be signed online by typing your name, and that is treated as your signature. This covers Jeremy Hodson's own documents only, such as this agreement and consent forms. The legal marriage paperwork must still be signed on paper, in person, and properly witnessed, and is lodged with the registry of births, deaths and marriages after the ceremony.
Changes and postponement
If you need to change your date or venue, tell Jeremy Hodson as soon as you can. A change will be accommodated where the new date and time are available, and your deposit moves with you. If the new date is not available, the cancellation terms below apply.
If you cancel
If you cancel, the deposit is not refunded, because it covers the date being held and the work already done. Any amount you have paid above the deposit is refunded, less the work completed and any costs already committed on your behalf.
If your celebrant cannot attend
In the unlikely event Jeremy Hodson cannot attend through illness or an emergency, every effort will be made to arrange a suitable replacement celebrant at no extra cost to you. If no replacement can be found, everything you have paid is refunded in full.
Your ceremony
Your ceremony is written with you and is yours. Jeremy Hodson will provide the words, guidance through the rehearsal and the legal paperwork on the day. You are responsible for the venue, any permits it requires, seating, and any sound equipment, unless we have agreed these are included.
Jeremy Hodson Marriage Celebrant & Emcee welcomes all couples equally, including same-sex couples, and will never treat a couple differently because of who they are.
Photographs
Jeremy Hodson may ask to use a photograph of your ceremony on this website or social media. Nothing is used without your permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time.
Privacy
Your details are used only to plan and carry out your ceremony and to meet the legal requirements of registering a marriage. They are never sold. See the privacy page for the detail.
